Various characteristics of ETFE membrane materials

ETFE (ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer) film is widely used in many fields due to its unique properties. In addition to weather resistance, ETFE film also has the following characteristics:

1. High light transmittance and adjustability

• High light transmittance: The light transmittance of ETFE film can reach a very high level, up to 95%. This high light transmittance makes ETFE film an ideal transparent material in buildings, providing sufficient natural light for indoor use.

• Adjustability: Through surface printing and other technical means, the light transmittance of ETFE film can be adjusted to meet the needs of different scenes. In addition, ETFE film can also be added with various glass patterns to change its solar performance and achieve solar control and shading effects.

2. Lightweight and high strength

Lightweight: The weight of ETFE film is very light, only about 1% of the weight of glass of the same size, which makes its application in buildings more flexible and convenient.

• High strength: Although ETFE film is lightweight, its strength and toughness are very high. It has good fracture and tear resistance, as well as excellent ductility, and the elongation percentage at break can reach 500%. This enables ETFE membranes to withstand greater tension and pressure, ensuring the stability of the building structure.

3. Chemical corrosion resistance and self-cleaning properties

• Chemical corrosion resistance: ETFE membranes have excellent chemical corrosion resistance and can resist the erosion of a variety of chemical substances (such as acids, alkalis, salts, etc.). This makes it widely used in chemical, environmental protection and other fields.

• Self-cleaning: The surface of ETFE membranes has a self-cleaning function, which can reduce the adhesion of dust and dirt. After being washed by rainwater, the surface of the membrane can quickly return to cleanliness, reducing maintenance costs and frequency.

4. Thermal insulation and heat insulation properties

• Thermal insulation properties: ETFE membranes have excellent thermal insulation properties, and their thermal insulation effect is more than 3 times that of glass and metal roofs. This is due to the low thermal conductivity of ETFE membranes, which allows the indoor temperature to remain stable.

• Thermal insulation properties: ETFE membranes also have excellent thermal insulation properties, which can effectively block external heat from entering the room, thereby reducing the energy consumption of refrigeration equipment such as air conditioners.

5. Flame retardant and electrical insulation properties

• Flame retardant properties: ETFE membranes have good flame retardant properties, and the fire rating reaches B1. When burning, ETFE film will not drip burning materials, nor will it produce smoke and toxic gases, thus ensuring the safety of the building.

• Electrical insulation performance: ETFE film has excellent electrical insulation performance and can withstand higher voltages without breakdown or short circuit. This makes it widely used in electrical, electronic and other fields. VI. Recyclability and environmental protection

• Recyclability: ETFE film is a recyclable green and environmentally friendly material. Discarded ETFE film can be reprocessed into new products such as pipe parts, wires or castings by hot melting and other methods. This helps to reduce resource waste and environmental pollution.

• Environmental protection: ETFE film does not release harmful substances during its production and use, and does not pollute or harm the environment. At the same time, the high light transmittance and self-cleaning properties of ETFE film also help to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions and achieve the goal of green buildings.

In summary, ETFE membrane materials are widely used in many fields due to their high light transmittance and adjustability, light weight and high strength, chemical corrosion resistance and self-cleaning, thermal insulation and heat insulation, flame retardant and electrical insulation, as well as recyclability and environmental protection.
