Recently, Linyi Qiyang Airport successfully conducted a critical fire safety smoke exhaust and fusing test for the terminal’s ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) air cushion membrane structure. The test realistically simulated a fire scenario, effectively evaluating the membrane’s smoke exhaust functionality under emergency fire conditions.
During the test, technicians promptly triggered a fire alarm signal, prompting staff to implement safety protocols. Upon receiving the signal, the resistance wires embedded in the ETFE membrane were rapidly electrified and heated, successfully fusing two edges of the membrane. Under the influence of its own weight, the entire membrane detached, creating an open area to ensure the terminal’s smoke exhaust system operated as designed.
The test proceeded safely and efficiently under comprehensive safeguards, achieving a one-time success in fusing the ETFE membrane structure. Through full-process, on-site supervision, the trial conclusively verified the membrane’s compliance with all standards, laying a solid foundation for the terminal’s official operational readiness.
Linyi Airport stated that it will leverage this successful test to accelerate project construction while ensuring high-quality, high-standard completion of goals. The airport also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening safety management to safeguard the lives and property of passengers and staff.
