Classification and application of PTFE membrane

1. PTFE film material classification

PTFE film material can be divided into the following four categories according to function: PTFE outer film, PTFE inner membrane, PTFE mesh film, PTFE mesh coating film.
 
(1) PTFE outer film
 
PTFE outer film, the most commonly used film material, consists of a high-strength glass fiber fabric coated with a durable PTFE protective coating.
It is characterized by high strength, good self-cleaning, wind and rain (impervious to air and water); There is a certain light transmittance (8~15%, light transmittance is not transparent), no sound absorption.
 
(2) PTFE inner membrane

Compared with the outer film, PTFE inner membrane has no coating and is mainly used for shading, sound absorption and sound insulation, and its mechanical properties are lower than that of the outer film.
It is characterized by lower strength than the outer film, good softness, grade A fireproof, sound-absorbing, light transmittance (20~40%), air permeability and water permeability, and self-cleaning is lower than the outer film.
 
(3) PTFE mesh membrane
 
PTFE mesh film, the substrate yarn weaving spacing is large, the coating is no longer fully covered, forming a certain opening rate of not less than 70%.
It is characterized by light transmittance and good decorative shading effect; The strength is lower than the outer film, breathable and permeable, and does not absorb sound.
 
(4) PTFE mesh coating
 
PTFE mesh film coating is to add a transparent film on top of the PTFE mesh film. At present, there are PTFE transparent films, FEP, PE and ETFE transparent films on the market (the most expensive). It is characterized by high light transmittance, high view transmittance and rainproof.
 

2. PTFE film application field

 
PTFE film has the advantages of high light transmittance, fire resistance, light weight, high strength, good self-cleaning, not affected by ultraviolet light, fatigue resistance, distortion resistance, aging resistance, long service life, etc.
Therefore, it is widely used in large public facilities with lighting needs, such as the roof system of sports stadiums, airport halls, exhibition centers, traffic platforms, corridors and so on.
