Canopy, awning, why do most people choose to use membrane structure?

As a common type of shed, the membrane structure canopy is widely used in various places, such as the entrance of the building, the entrance of the square, and the rooftop ceiling.
 
Most people know that the material of the canopy may still be glass, or color steel. With the development of technology, the canopy is also being improved, and now most people choose to use the membrane structure canopy. So why do most people choose to use membrane structure design, such as awnings, sunshades and grandstands? What are the precautions?
 

There are the following four aspects:

(1) The selection of membrane materials is the key to the design of membrane structure canopy. Commonly used membrane materials are PVC, PVDF, PTFE, ETFE and so on. These materials have high light transmittance, high thermal reflectivity, fire retardant, high strength, good durability, not affected by ultraviolet light, long service life and other excellent properties.
 
Ptfe material also has excellent self-cleaning properties. The warranty period of membrane materials varies according to different brands and quality. In general, the warranty period of PVC film material is 10 years, the warranty period of PVDF film material is 15 years, the warranty period of PTFE film material is 20 years, and the warranty period of ETFE film material is 25 years.
 
(2) The design of the membrane structure canopy needs to pay attention to the combination of practicality and aesthetics. There is a "stretching" process in the structural design of membrane structure buildings, and it is necessary to determine a position where the structural system can achieve balance under the action of prestressing the membrane weight and cable members according to the geometry under the initial load.
 
In the preliminary design stage, we must first confirm the geometric shape of the building, and then apply prestress to make the membrane surface bear the tension, and constantly adjust the operation of prestress, and finally achieve the required structural form.
 
(3) The membrane structure canopy needs to strictly comply with the construction specifications and requirements during the production and installation process. Splint connection, pay attention to different parts of different specifications of splint and control the spacing, use splint to stretch membrane structure membrane body and cable connection.
 
At the same time, the film body should be lifted in blocks according to the plane position to prevent shaking. Use a safety rope to secure the outside of the tensioned membrane structure.

(4) For the reinforcement method of the canopy of the membrane structure, the multi-node integral lifting technology can be adopted, that is, according to the design height of the membrane body of the tensioning membrane structure, the membrane body is lifted in blocks according to the plane position to prevent shaking.
 
In addition, safety measures such as safety ropes can be used to ensure the safety of the membrane structure grandstand canopy.
