What is the difference between ePTFE folded filter element and PP cotton filter element

There are significant differences between ePTFE folded filter elements and PP cotton filter elements in many aspects. The following is a detailed analysis of the differences between the two filter elements:

Ⅰ. Material and structure

1.ePTFE folded filter element

Material: Made of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) material, it has excellent chemical stability, corrosion resistance and biocompatibility.

Structure: The filter element adopts a folded design, which increases the filtration area and improves the filtration efficiency. At the same time, the filter element may contain a supporting guide layer inside to enhance the structural strength and filtration performance of the filter element.

2.PP cotton filter element

Material: Made of polypropylene (PP) fiber through a melt-blown process.

Structure: The filter element is a cylindrical integral structure, and the fiber diameter and density can be adjusted to meet different filtration accuracy requirements.

1.ePTFE folded filter element

High filtration accuracy, can efficiently remove tiny particles, microorganisms and impurities in the fluid.

It has excellent air permeability and waterproof properties, suitable for gas and liquid filtration.

It has excellent performance in chemical stability and corrosion resistance, and is suitable for filtration of a variety of corrosive media.

2.PP cotton filter element

The deep filtration mechanism ensures a high-precision filtration effect, but its filtration efficiency and accuracy may be slightly inferior to that of the ePTFE folded filter element.

1.ePTFE folded filter element

It is widely used in medicine, food processing, semiconductor and electronics industries, chemical industry, environmental protection and water treatment.

It is particularly suitable for occasions requiring high-purity, sterile or corrosive media filtration.

2.PP cotton filter element

It is mainly used for primary filtration of water treatment systems, pre-filtration of household drinking water, and pre-treatment of industrial water.

It is often used as a pre-filter in conjunction with other high-precision filters to extend the service life of subsequent filter elements.

Ⅳ. Cost and life

1.ePTFE folded filter element

Due to the use of special materials and complex processes, the production cost is high and the market price is relatively high.

However, due to its high efficiency in filtration performance and long service life, it may have a higher cost-effectiveness in the long run.

2.PP cotton filter element

The production cost is low and the market price is relatively affordable.

The service life is relatively short and needs to be replaced regularly to ensure the filtering effect. However, the replacement cost is low and the maintenance is simple.

There are significant differences between ePTFE folded filter elements and PP cotton filter elements in terms of material and structure, filtering performance, application areas, cost and life.
